Buxa is a village in the Alipurduar district of West Bengal within Buxa Tiger Reserve. It is located 30 kilometres (19 mi) from Alipurduar, the nearest town. It is known for the Buxa Fort. It is situated in the dooars in north bengal and it is the critical corridor with assam and Bhutan. Buxa is the wettest place of West Bengal (550 cm). At least 284 bird species inhabit the reserve. Mammals present include Asian elephant, gaur, Sambar deer, clouded leopard, Indian leopard.

Jayanti is one of the most famous tourist destinations of Dooars.Jayanti shares a border between India and Bhutan. Jayanti is a small forest village within Buxa Tiger Reserve. It is located along the Jayanti River, forming a natural border with the Bhutan hills. It is popular with hikers for its views of the surrounding landscape and wild fountains. A 13 km trek from Buxaduar to Jayanti passes through the dense forest of the Buxa Tiger Reserve.

Located at an elevation of 2350 meters, Lava is approximately 35 km from Kalimpong and is fast becoming a major tourist destination. The lush forests of Lava arc ideal for nature treks, bird watching, and plant and wildlife exploration. The Sherpa View Point here provides an excellent view of the snow-crested mountains of Bhutan and Tibet. The monastery at Lava is a place of much interest to scholars and academics.

Situated at an altitude of 1300 metres on the eastern part of Darjeeling Himalayas, the Kalimpong district was formed on 14 February 2017, after splitting from the Darjeeling district as the 21st district of West Bengal. It consists of the Kalimpong Municipality with 23 wards and three community development blocks: Kalimpong I, Kalimpong II and Gorubathan consisting of 42 gram panchayats.

Rishop (also known as Rishyap) is a tranquil, small rural settlement of the Lepcha community in the mountainous landscape at an altitude of 8,500ft. It is only about 28kms to the east of Kalimpong. From Lava, there is an uphill motorable road of 11kms and also a trekking trail of 4kms leading to Rishop. Rishop actually is an integral part of the well known Neora Valley at the foothills of Tiffindara.

Many tourists confuse Sittong thinking of it as a single village... it is not. It is a fairly large area comprising of three Panchayats, each of which has several villages in it. Sittong is actually a cluster of villages located in Darjeeling district and part of Kurseong subdivision, with an average altitude of about 4,000ft.
